So I wrote this little minific in bookshop's comments a week or two ago, and since she's just unscreened it, it can now be archived here in the Black Hole of Salvaged Drabbles. Viz:

Pillow Talk. Hikaru no Go, Akira/Hikaru, rated R for the words "naked" and "sweaty". 828 words.

It takes Hikaru a minute to catch on, but that's because he's still seeing stars -- a pretty good excuse, he thinks. Still, eventually he works out that Touya isn't just stroking his arm stroking his arm, but that he's running his fingers over Hikaru's bicep with a look on his face like something's bothering him.

Hikaru's starting to get used to seeing Touya zoned-out like that. He never saw that side of Touya when he was marked down as opponent in that List of Everything In The World that lives in Touya's head; not even when they worked up to their weird friendship that consisted mostly of arguments. But just in these last few months, Touya's started letting himself drift away when Hikaru's around, and he'd wonder what it meant they are now -- except that they're naked together in bed and all kinds of sweaty, so the question kind of answers itself.

Touya's gently stroking fingertips are soft, a bit ticklish, kind of...

...ghostly.

Hikaru screws his eyes up very tight and concentrates on the rhythm of his breathing.

Once he's sure he's calmed down, he opens his eyes again; but now he really wants Touya to stop, because even though the way his arm tingles when Touya's fingertip calluses brush against it feels just amazing, Sai was Sai and Touya is Touya and thinking about Sai still hurts and even though the two of them are all tangled up together in the thread of Hikaru's life, of course they are, Hikaru doesn't want them to be, he just wants to enjoy the feeling of being with Touya -- just for a while -- and they just fucked for the first time (and by the way, wow) and he wants this feeling to be as pure as possible, he doesn't want to mix anything else up in it, and that's fair, right?

So to give himself something else to think about and to make Touya stop, he puts his hand over Touya's, and says, "What?"

Touya blinks, coming back to earth. "Oh," he says. "I..." He looks up at Hikaru, and solemnly says, "You're so handsome."

Hikaru turns maybe the littlest bit pink (maybe!), grins a big, goofy grin, and says, "Oh, um. Thanks!" Then his eyes catch up with his brain, he sees the expression on Touya's face, and he asks himself, So why do you look like you think that's a bad thing?

"No," Touya says with a frown. "That isn't what I mean." He pulls his hand out from under Hikaru's and gestures at Hikaru's body with it. "Go players are skinny kids or fat old men. You have muscles. You don't dress formally. You even," and he reaches up and runs his hand through Hikaru's bleached hair, making Hikaru's forehead tingle, "do this. You don't look like a go player. Of course you are, but you're something else as well. You're attractive."

"I don't understand," Hikaru says. He has muscles because he used to play sports, and even now, he likes to go running, likes the space the steady rhythm of his feet makes for him to think in. What's Touya talking about?

"Your go is so important to me," Touya says. "But..." and he blushes in a way that makes Hikaru breathe very fast and very shallow, "...so is everything else, now. And you're gorgeous. One day you won't want this any more. Perhaps you'll get married, or just find someone more attractive. As long as you still play go with me, I can accept that. But I want to be able to remember you like this. To remember that you were with me."

Hikaru stares at Touya's calm, composed face -- it is, in fact, Touya's Calm, Composed Face -- in complete amazement. Someone else? Is he kidding? How is Hikaru supposed to explain that he isn't interested in anyone else? That he thinks Touya's skinny, angular body is incredibly hot? (Even if it took him way too long to admit it.) That whenever Touya shrugs, making the open collars of his shirts frame the sharpness of his collarbones in a perfect triangle, Hikaru has to pretend he needs to stretch his legs in order to conceal the traitorous hardening in his jeans? How is he supposed to make Touya understand that he never even looks at anyone else -- because why would he -- because Touya's there?

Oh fuck, Hikaru thinks. I'm the girl.

"Shindou," Touya's saying. "I'm sorry I brought it up. I only..." He's cut off by Hikaru poking him in the chest.

"Look, Touya, you complete freak, I want to be with you. I like you. I think I maybe even... yeah." Hikaru coughs nervously. "But I like you the way you are."

"And which way is that?" Touya asks, his eyes shining.

"Pointy," Hikaru says, and kisses the tip of Touya's nose.
